Sarah*, a pro-life pharmacist working for a national pharmacy chain, was threatened with termination after she told her employer she could not fill prescriptions for abortion-inducing drugs. Sarah is Catholic and she explained to her employer that to dispense drugs that end the lives of preborn children would violate her deeply held beliefs.
Sarah has worked for the company for many years, but the pharmacy chain said it was no longer obligated to accommodate her religious beliefs, as birth control, morning-after pills, and chemical abortion drugs are now deemed “essential services.” The company threatened Sarah with immediate termination if she did not agree to dispense the prescriptions.
Sarah and her husband have four children, two of whom have disabilities that require 24/7 attention. Sarah is the primary income earner in her family and her husband stays home to care for the children. Losing her job would have been catastrophic.
VICTORY! Life Legal worked with a local employment attorney who was able to secure a permanent accommodation for Sarah. This means she can keep her job, but is not required to facilitate the killing of unborn children.
Thank you for your faithful support that allows us to help people like Sarah who simply want to do their jobs without having to sacrifice their beliefs. We are currently handling several other similar cases involving employee conscience protections.
Would you please consider making a donation of $25, $50, or even $100 so we can continue to intervene on behalf of those whose jobs are threatened because they refuse to violate their pro-life convictions.
