Life Legal gets HEROIC PRO-LIFE WITNESS out of JAIL…

Life Legal just secured the release of a pro-lifer who was jailed last week on trumped-up felony charges. A.J. Hurley, Director of Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, was arrested in March following a pro-life protest at Zuckerberg (yes, THAT Zuckerberg) Hospital on the campus of the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). The hospital routinely commits abortion through 24 weeks and offers third trimester abortions in certain cases. It provides body parts from aborted babies to the University for experimentation, including grafting babies’ intestines and reproductive tracts onto mice.

A.J. was initially cited for trespassing after he and two other pro-lifers entered the abortion facility and pleaded with women and with the abortionist not to kill babies. Pro-life activists also peacefully leafletted an abortionist’s neighborhood the day before. Earlier this month, A.J. was notified that a judge issued a warrant for his arrest after the police added a felony stalking allegation.

After discussing the situation with Life Legal attorney Allison Aranda, A.J. turned himself in and was taken into custody. Bail was initially set for $25,000, but Allison was able to get the bail eliminated and A.J. was released on his own recognizance.

When A.J. appeared at his arraignment, he learned that the District Attorney had added a California FACE (Freedom of Access to Clinic and Church Entrances) violation as well and a vandalism charge related to the leafletting.  A.J. pleaded not guilty to all of the charges and a status conference will be held next month.

A.J.’s next hearing is on June 13. Please pray for him and for Life Legal attorney Allison Aranda as the case proceeds.
