IN MEMORIAM: Nellie Gray

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Nellie Gray, the “mother of the March for Life”, who died in August 2012, at the age of 86. She was a tireless defender of life and a lifelong Christian and adult convert to Catholicism. Sean Cardinal O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston, once described her as “the Joan of Arc of the Gospel of life.”

“Nellie Gray was the ‘life’ behind the March for Life. The last time I saw Nellie was just a few weeks prior to her passing—she was in Washington D.C., engaged and energized, looking ahead to planning the 2013 March. She will be sorely missed as the 40th anniversary of Roe is remembered. I’m confident many at the March will be there to pay her tribute.

One thing she always maintained was ‘no abortion, no exceptions and no compromise.’ What a legacy to leave behind.

May God rest her soul as she meets all those children whose lives she fought for.”
