“Knowingly subjecting our innocent unborn children to dismemberment in the womb, particularly when they have developed to the point that they can feel excruciating pain every terrible moment leading up to their undeserved deaths, belies everything America was called to be. This is not who we are.” – Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ).
Wednesday, June 12, 2013, the Judiciary Committee of the United States House of Representatives passed HR 1797, a bill that would protect unborn children from abortion based on their ability to feel pain. Following debate, the Committee also defeated numerous amendments to the bill that would have gutted its effectiveness in protecting the unborn. The bill is expected to be called for a vote before the full House of Representatives next week.
